Nothing like totally distancing yourself from the regret by using the passive voice.  

What happened to...

"We’re sorry for the inconvenience.”

Or if it really is true regret, and I can’t imagine why because I would rather have a safe elevator than a broken one…

“We regret the inconvenience”
