As many of us have noticed, it's hard to find any public health promotion in NYC for Open Enrollment, which starts in 9 days.
But do not despair. A colleague found and ad in a Walgreen's window on 111th and Broadway.
Over the next 9 days I thought it would be good to report on any other evidence that indeed the healthcare reform so many have waited for and need is actually going to be a reality in NY Oct. 1.

As of today, I have personally not seen a single thing promoting the open enrollment. My eyes are peeled, but it is more than a little disconcerting that there has been very little in the way of promoting this major change in health policy.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen anything promoting ObamaCare. It's sad that the people who need it the most are not receiving any information about this service. Yet, the information they are receiving is jaded and misleading. However I have seen the video ads Opposing ObamaCare

As someone who will most likely be enrolling-- I have seen nothing, AND have had a Very hard time locating information on the internet. I am pretty smart, and I have never felt so dumb!
ReplyDeleteSo for this morning I noticed that one side of my subway car was emblazoned with ads for Emblem Health, using a color scheme similar to the poster at Walgreens.
ReplyDeleteThis afternoon on the way home, half of my subway car was postered with ads for Allied Health...same design, same color scheme.
This is perhaps an opening soft volley of the choices one might have once the Affordable Health Care Act goes into effect next week. An interesting tactic if its true, although there was no mention whatsoever above the overall plan.
I have also noticed the Emblem Health ads in the subway cars. I agree that it would be an interesting tactic if the similar color scheme has some meaning behind it, however I do think it is just a coincidence...unfortunately.
DeleteAs everyone else has stated, I am also shocked that I have not seen one promotion piece for what is a major turning point in health reform. It is disappointing that the information for open enrollment is not available to the public or easily accessible to those who are in need. It would be sad if the lack of information and promotion for open enrollment hinders the turnout.
ReplyDeleteAre the plans simply promoting themselves, or is there anything else being communicated. I haven't seen them yet. Can someone snap a photo?
ReplyDeleteThey are just very similar in tone...pleasant pics of smiling family members...one or two lines of text...and both sets of ads have a link to their respective websites at the bottom. What made each stand out was exactly how similar in tone and presentation they were. I would've snapped some pics but there were some sinister looking teenagers on the subway, and thought better of taking out my mobile device.
